Wave At The Bus

Congratulations to today's "Blog of Note"!

I check out BoN every day, and every so often I find a blog that I like and follow it.  I have made many new friends this way (Hi, Manzi, Maggie, Eddie, Sully, etc!).

I have never featured an entire blog this way, though.  But this just struck me as FANTASTIC in every way, so sharing it is a necessity.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

And the Busting Begins!

By now you know that this Family is kooky beyond all wildest imaginations...

And we CANNOT resist "busting"...

Well...It has already begun...

Great one, Ashley!!!!

Dad's "I am the Darkness" quote is making the rounds, as well...

More to come...without a doubt.

Grandma's 80th Birthday!!!!!

Josephine's 80th Birthday.  A day we enjoyed as much as she did!

It began with Congratulatory phone calls from Jean and Julie... and Mom was BEAMING when...

...at 9 am, the family began to assemble at 24 C.  Our mission: to CLEAN THE HOUSE!  This was the only 'gift' Mom was expecting ahead of time.
Donna drew the living room, and she Tom and Danny transformed it into a theater for the "Party" to be held after lunch.

Steve was foreman in the little bedroom, and he and Jason and Cathy did a beautiful job!

John got one of the tougher rooms - the Kitchen - but he had the help of Eric (polished furniture), James (cleaned the ceiling fan), Jessica (window washer, deluxe), Jerry (fixed the stove connections) and Precy (floor washer!)

Larry had the Pantry as his room. Kevin helped him some. And Precy washed the floor.  It was spic-and-span when 11:00 rolled around.

Joe drew the bathroom - the most unpleasant job - and had no crew!  His solo effort sparkles, now!!

Rosalie and I lucked out, and drew the Sunporch as our room...and it was shining like a diamond when we got through with it!

And Lenny got the Big Bedroom.  Kevin and Jess were part of his crew, and they finished in record time!

When Patty and David arrived, all the "Call Grandma" performers headed for the basement for some last minute rehearsing.  The performance video is here! (Keep reading...)

Mom with some of her Grandkids

Cheryl and Lukas arrived shortly thereafter.  Buddy stayed home with an ailing Lilli.  Poor little darlin' has a pretty bad cold...

At 11 o'clock, Tom went to pick up the Pizzas (14 of them!!!) and Donna and I set up the "buffet table", and put the 'horse doovers' in the oven, set out the salads that she and Lenny prepared, and the chips and excellent Mexican Dip that Steve made.

Dad, doing his famous "Moose Ears", sits in HIS chair at the head of the buffet table
Precy decorated the table with the balloons she brought, flowers that had been delivered from Pete and Sarah, and Mike and Janet and Nick and Julia, and flowers and balloons that James brought.  Jessica decorated the rest of the house with streamers and "80" signs.

FESTIVE!!

As soon as the pizza arrived, the feeding frenzy began (we ARE Josie's children, after all...) but even though we ate our fill, we couldn't make it through all 14 Pizzas.  10 of them were devoured, however.

******************************
And then, the fun began....

It all started with the 7 of us sibs singing our version of the Beatles "Birthday" song.

(Yikes!!!)

(Thank you, Cheryl, for taking the scariest photo of the day!  LOL!)

(Precy took a video of this.  I am afraid to watch it. I'm also afraid she will post it on Facebook!!!)

Our Darling, Jessica, wrote a poem for Grandma...

Donna sang her version of Celine Dion's "Mama", and received a "Standing O" .

Kevin sang his Oringnal Rap song,  "Jesus in My Back Yard" (video will be posted later)

Lenny read a Letter he wrote especially for Mom...

and then the Grandkids performed  "Call Grandma"

Performance Art! (Rehearsal)

Yesterday:

 David, Jessica, Kevin and I
 met Joe, Danny and Jason
 at Donna and Tom's house
For a 'Rehearsal Session' in preparation for one of Mom's Birthday 'Gifts'.

The Task:
  To choose a song
  Rewrite the Lyrics
  and SING it, Karaoke style.

The five Grandchildren in attendance - all under 16 yrs of age - collaborated, and chose "Ghostbusters" as the song they wanted to perform.
With a (very) little help from their friends, they rewrote the lyrics, and the new title of the song became

 "Call Grandma!!!"

They practised once, sitting at the table.  Then they got up, grabbed the mikes, and this is what happened:

From L-R:  David, Jessica, Kevin, Jason and Danny

The rest of Josephine's Grandchildren (all but one OVER 16 yrs of age) will be joining in on Saturday, but they are gonna have to wing it, since they were unavailable for rehearsal.

Josie is going to LOVE this!
 ...Hope you do, too...

Here's Your Sign...

As some of you may know, Jerry and I are hosting a semi-formal cocktail party at our home in the near future.  Our liquor stocks were pretty low, as the last time we stocked a bar was in 2004.  So I made a trip to the packy today...

I grabbed a shopping cart, and proceeded to fill it with a varied and sundry selection of wines, vodkas, liqueurs, tequila and a margarita bucket, a big bottle of Bailey's Irish Creme, and a bunch of mixers. I won't tell you what the cost of this extravaganza was, as I don't want anyone out there to have a coronary.

ANYway, I'm next in line at the checkout, and no one is behind me, when a gentleman about my age walks up with a single bottle of vodka in his hand. To be nice, and neighborly, I suggest to him that he go in front of me, as my purchase may take a while.  He glances in my cart, thanks me, and steps up to pay for his purchase.

As the cashier rings up his bottle, he turns back to me, and being nice, and neighborly, asks,

"Havin' a Party?"

And, in true Bill Engvall style I reply,

"Nah... I'm an eclectic alcoholic."

And --- no word of this is a lie --- he looks me right in the eye, and with a perfectly straight face asks,

"Really???"

It's not Art...but I HAVE to share it with you...

Every now and again, an e-mail comes across your screen and makes you laugh until your co-workers start to wonder what you're sniffing.  This happened to me when I was working at Sun Microsystems (when they were still an infant company) and THIS missive made me tinkle in my panti-hose....

I am pleased to resurrect it for you.   Ten Jew Berry Mud.
