More "Backyard Wildlife"

More often than not, we get to witness nature from our deck ((Jerry's Big Deck!) and we are almost always surprised. We live in a fairly good-sized town, but our property abuts an Environmentally Protected Wetland Area, so you think that it would be ho-hum to us by now. Not yet!

We've been her nearly eight years, but what we saw on Sunday morning was new.

Deer (and the destruction of our gardens that they inflict) are noticed regularly.  BUT... this was the first time we have ever seen a 'factory-fresh' fawn.  Cutest thing ever! He spent about 10 minutes wandering around (or should I say stumbling around, he really was very shaky on his feet!) in our backyard, and I was able to get a load of photos.  Here are a few of the best ones:

Love to all!

  1. Way cool. We had a place in New Hampshire where the deer would come out of the woods to eat apples from one of our trees, but we never saw a fawn. Excellent!

Where in NH? We used to live there, and are hoping to return at retirement.

I think I wouldn't mind a bit of muching in my garden to be able to witness such a sight.

  4. I'm familiar with deer munching gardens, and unfortunately, Maggie May, it's not a BIT of munching.
